The collection could have come directly from Shanghai of the 1920s
The winter dominance of black and combining black with red is nothing new however, avoiding the banality is definitely a success. Ralph Lauren's collection managed to avoid it thanks to the brilliant inspiration with culture of the Far East.
The materials deserve a special attention. We owe the mix of textures to the leitmotif of the collection - 1920s Chinese fashion. Thus the fascination with black, red and silk. Minimal cuts are referring to the Japanese kimono, but they have a more modern spirit.
Accessories played the priority role, from jade necklaces, embroidered bags and ornaments to red velvet twisted peep-toe heels with a distinct deco feel.
We could see the most winter shades of green, red and purple. As for me, I liked the dirty, deep purple most. The coat in this colour was absolutely enrapturing. Especially nice was a black short haircalf motorcycle jacket and a burgundy dress. It's really worth seeing this show:
