Jessica Simpson's fashion empire is now generating nearly $1 billion annual sales. Seriously. Jessica is mainly known as a TV personnality, but this time she has a chance to become famous from yet another reason...

What makes Jessica's fashion line such a huge success? She seems to take Picasso's advice, who said that “good artists copy" too literally. Basicaly, her strategy is all about searching out for the most interesting patterns and cuts from the world's famous designers and adapting them for the mainstream market, meaning selling the copies at 10 times off-price. Sounds like a great business, doesn't it?

Here's an example. The showcase shoes from Jessica Simpson's S/S 2012 collection look suspiciously like the Louboutin S/S 2012 sandals...

Where's the difference? Obviously the price, the label and the production place.

I understand that famous designers are ofcourse a source of inspiration. But in my opinion, the inspiration should differ at least a little bit from the original. Just like the Buffalo sandals inspired by Louboutin!
