This summer is showing a trend for bright and clashing colour combinations. It's all about combining chunks of different, contrasting colours. color blocking has settled for good in the stylist's dictionary and is a huge trend this summer. There are many ways to wear this trend and we show you how to subtly rock it.
What is it all about?
To interpret this trend right, you need to understand the basic principals of color theory. It involves some knowledge of the color wheel and a bit of bravery
The color wheel explains how colors evolve and some colors organically pair well with each other. First we have primary colors: red, yellow and blue. Mixing these colors in different combinations creates secondary colors: green, purple, and orange. Lastly, your tertiary colors results from further mixing.

Colors lined up on the color wheel are analogous colours which innately pair well together. While colors situated directly opposite one another on the wheel are complementary colours. The magic of color blocking is in mixing complementary colours which strenghten one another. Also sets based on analogous colours look fresh and chic.

Consider tint and shade when color blocking
Shades are colors mixed with black. Tints are mixed with white. Combinations of shades and tints ad zest to utterly any stylization.

Be aware of the fact that green & red combinations would look either stunning or hedious. It would deffinitely attract the attention, but makes me automatically think of christmas. it really depends on the tones of the colors. Military green paired with burgundy red gives an absolutely elegant and classy look.
If there's anything to add, I'd recommend Gucci and Prada 2011. Both collections are a great starting point to approach the trend skillfully.

Have fun with colours!
