Thick ankles or heavy calves - what to wear?

TUESDAY, 24 MAY. 2011, 16:16

Section:Hints & propositions

There're no such things as defects of your silhouette, there are only different body types. You can do much to reduce the appearance of fat calves by using the power of illusion.
Are your calves a bit thicker than you'd like? If you have thick calves, you can reduce their appearance and elongate your legs by wearing the proper footwear and avoiding the one that enhances their size.

This can be a problem for women who are overweight, but also for those who are athletic and have developed the muscles in their calves which cause them to appear thick.

Fortunately, fat calves can be downplayed by using some clever fashion tricks. Avoid wearing ahoes with ankle straps and T-straps. You will also want to stay away from Mary Janes which will draw the eye to your thick calves.

Opt for dark coloured leggings, and skinnies and pair them with corresponding shoes. Trousers that flares below the knee, A-line skirts and full length dresses also tend to be flattering as well as knee high boots.
