Do you know that Chanel No 5 is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year?
In 1921,
Chanel No 5 saw a daylight for the first time. It was created by
Ernest Beaux for
Coco Chanel, who chose 5th fragrance from 8 samples. By the way, five is Coco's favourite number. 90 years ago, Chanel gave vials of the new Chanel No 5 perfumes as Christmas presents to her best customers. The product found its way to the sale only in 1922, therefore many portals are indicating this very year as the beginning of the world career of the world's best-selling perfumes.
The fragrance has so far been advertised by
Catherine Deneuve,
Nicole Kidman and
Audrey Tautou. However, Marilyn Monroe is the one who had the biggest contribution to Chanel No 5's success, when she revealed, that to bed she dresses only in few drops of Chanel No 5.
