Is Business Casual everywhere the same?
Business Casual as the definition of dress everywhere means the same, however not everywhere it has equally universal application. For Americans, Business Casual is a way of dressing in determined employment statuses and it alsodetermines dress code of employment places, and the employees are getting to know dress code the first day of their employment.

One figures out very quickly what fits and what doesn't, the only problem arises when it comes to business trips, international meetings or trade fairs when we stumble across a note: Attire: Business Casual.

Since you can not get the second chance of the first impression, better not to experiment and instead of guessing what is proper it's better to prepare a dress in accordance with guidelines of the organiser.

Men

Business Casual is a combination of formal style and comfort, which means that tie is not necessary, and the jacket may come in non-standard fashion (but without exaggerations). Also wearing the polo shirt and the good quality sweater, e.g. thrown over ones shoulders, is acceptable. However, Jeans are inadmissible.

It is more difficult in case of shoes - exclusively black or brown shoes are possible, and they should always be elegant. In exceptional cases shoes can have the grey colour. Unfortunately, but all kinds of casual shoes are going beyond the framework of Business Casual.

Women

Women can let themselves on more, for example on putting on a blouse uncovering shoulders, but under one condition - the cardigan or the jacket. In the remaining cases shoulders must be covered. Both the blouse and the sweater or the jacket should represent the high quality of the workmanship. The bottom should come in black or any khaki shade. Trousers, dresses as well as skirts (knee long) are acceptable. Jeans (even black) are not Business Casual.

Best shoes are pumps with 2.4" - 3.1" heels, but flats and higher heels are acceptable. In some cases it's possible to wear boots, but only on heels.

It's better to avoid extravagant jewellery. Instead, it's better to choose something discreet, yet elegant like a fine watch or bracelet.

Generally speaking, Business Casual should be modest and neat, and also comfortable. I will repeat once more- jeans and sports shoes aren't a Casual Business.
