Is there a difference betweeni UGG and EMU shoes? Can you tell which ones are better?
Differences are slight, but they do exist. Both, UGG and EMU, are inspired by well known, warm and comfy sheepskin shoes that have been worn in Australia from over 50 years now. They protect feet during winter and summer.
EMU brand has Australian origins. It has its head office and majority of assembly lines there, plus, it uses materials from Australia. Thus shoes by EMU Australia are truly Australian.
Trademark UGG Australia was purchased in 1995 by American company - Decers. At present, in spite of their name, they are American shoes.
EMU are made of skins from Australian sheep. (see for yourself), shoes by UGG, on the other hand, are made of sheepskins imported from Mongolia. (see).
However, it was the UGG's marketing that contributed so greatly to the sheepskin boots' rise in popularity. Thanks to spread of information about the unique features of sheepskin, UGG are now being worn by Hollywood stars and hundreds of women in United States. EMU, on the other hand, win in Australian and New Zeland's markets, where UGG Australia are not particularly popular, mainly due to sociological reasons. (see here and here). The popularity of EMU is recently growing up also in Europe.
UGS advantage over EMU is that they come in many more colour schemes.
While EMU, in our opinion, come in better quality - they've got more solid stitches, are hardened at heel and toe box, and most of models have double, abrasion-resistant sole.
We value both brands very high. Recently, we were able to add EMU to our offer.
